02/06/2023 - The IEEE Computer Society has selected Keshav Pingali to receive the 2023 IEEE CS Charles Babbage Award for his "contributions to high-performance compilers and graph computing." At The University of Texas at Austin, Pingali is the W.A. "Tex" Moncrief Chair of Grid and Distributed Computing and a professor in the Department of Computer Science and core faculty in the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. 11/28/2011 - UTCS graduate Ken Calvert was elected to IEEE Fellow "for contributions to internet topology and active networks." Ken earned his Ph.D. from UTCS in 1991 under Simon Lam's supervision. Currently, Ken is Professor and Chair of the Computer Science Department at the University of Kentucky. Read more
05/18/2004 - Professor Simon Lam receives the 2004 ACM SIGCOMM Award The annual ACM SIGCOMM Award recognizes lifetime contribution to the field of communication networks. Professor Lam will accept the award at the 2004 ACM SIGCOMM conference in Portland, Oregon, on August 31, 2004. As the 2004 award recipient, he will deliver the conference's keynote address.
