12/10/2013 - Professor David Zuckerman has been elected as an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Fellow. This prestigious honor is reserved for the top 1% of ACM members. He is recognized for his contributions to randomness extraction, pseudorandomness, and their role in complexity theory. Zuckerman's research also includes coding theory, cryptography, inapproximability, and more. Read more
12/09/2013 - Dana Ballard has been selected to receive the 2014 Distinguished Cognitive Scientist Award from the University of California, Merced. Ballard's research interest is in computational series of the brain with emphasis on human vision.  Read more
12/09/2013 - Professor Dana Ballard, and his co-author Michael Swain of University of Chicago, have won the Helmholtz Test-of-Time award for their paper "Color Indexing", which published in 1991. 11/25/2013 - UTCS faculty Chandra Bajaj and Inderjit Dhillon were elected IEEE Fellows. Chandrajit Bajaj was selected for his contributions to image processing, scientific visualization, and computational biology. His research interests span the algorithmic and mathematics underpinnings of Structural Biology and Biophysics, Image Processing, Geometric Modeling, Computer Graphics, and Visualization.  Read more
