Bedichek Middle School

Faculty Advisor: Stephen Keckler
Regular Volunteers: Byung Kang, Crystal Monteiro

Every Tuesday afternoon, UT ACM volunteers visit Bedichek Middle School to run the after school computer club from 4-5:30 pm. Fifteen to twenty 6th grade students are currently learning the in's and out's of RoboLab
programming complete with building, programming, and testing their own robots. All efforts at Bedichek are concentrated toward Austin Science Fun Day in March 2004, where the students will present what they have
learned through many short interactive demonstrations with other groups and observers.

River City Youth Foundation

Regular Volunteers: Melinda Chen, Minh Nguyen, Anthony Rubio, Crystal Monteiro, Dan Katz, Will Warner

Every Saturday (10am-2pm) and Sunday (noon-4pm), UT ACM volunteers attend the River City Youth Foundation success center, where we work in the computer learning lab. "At risk" kids come from the neighborhood to learn more about computers, English, and what it's like to go to UT. Mentoring these students and encouraging them to learn and strive for excellence is a small service the UT ACM can give back to the community. Additionally, many hours have been spent cleaning up the RCYF's computer lab including reformatting, imaging, and hardware dissection.

These two projects are the UTACM's largest volunteer project currently. We have a number of other projects awaiting volunteers, including various tech related small projects. Many of these projects are outlined here http://www.utacm.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=16 . Pictures from our volunteer efforts are available at
