UTCS faculty Chandra Bajaj and Inderjit Dhillon were elected IEEE Fellows.

Chandrajit Bajaj was selected for his contributions to image processing, scientific visualization, and computational biology. His research interests span the algorithmic and mathematics underpinnings of Structural Biology and Biophysics, Image Processing, Geometric Modeling, Computer Graphics, and Visualization. 

Inderjit Dhillon was selected for his contributions to large-scale data analysis and computational mathematics. Dhillon's main research interests are in machine learning, data mining and bioinformatics. Some of his current research topics include high-dimensional data analysis, divide-and-conquer methods for big data analytics, social network analysis, and predicting gene-disease associations.
