Professor in Computer Sciences Steve Keckler received an NSF CAREER Award.

"The objectives of my research are to investigate computer architectures that simultaneously address the challenges of deep-submicron technologies and meet the needs of modern dynamic applications. The most significant technology challenges are the diverging speeds of transistors and wires, increased power consumption and heat generation in integrated circuits, and higher susceptibility to transient logic faults due to decreasing feature sizes. We will develop technology models for power consumption and reliability, incorporate them into microarchitectural simulators, and investigate through simulation distributed single-chip multicore architectures for workloads that demands high computational throughput, low-latency task execution, or both."
